Oma Katherine Powell-Burt

Mrs. Oma Katherine Burt, age 82, of Hurley, MS, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009. Mrs. Burt was a native of Puckett, MS and had been a resident of the Coast since 1947. She retired from Harrison County Public School system, was a member of Bonnie Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of O.E.S. at Daisy Vestry and Vancleave chapters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin E. Burt, III and her parents, William and Viola Powell. Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Sue (Thomas) Kurtz, Ruth Ellen (Thomas) Havens and Sheila Gale (Ralph) Rayner; a son, Edwin E. (Janiece) Burt, IV; a sister, Anna Gross; four grandchildren, Erik Kurtz, Kathy D'Amico, Stacy Rayner and Jedaiah Burt. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 23, 2009 in the Bonnie Chapel United Methodist Church in Vancleave, where friends may visit two hours prior to service.
