Oma "Kitty" Cook Loper

Oma (Kitty) Cook Loper passed away peacefully September 25, 2008 at the Northeast Community Hospice Hadlow Center in Jacksonville, Florida after a long illness. Daughter of Lilly and Miles Terrell, she was born on March 7, 1921. Mrs. Loper moved to Taylor Manor in Jacksonville thirteen years ago to be close to her daughter, Sandra McNamara. Kitty was a gentle spirit who was devoted to her family and faith. She lived most of her life in Gulfport raising her family where she was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. Kitty was accomplished in needlework, gardening, and an avid reader. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kelsie B. Loper. Mrs. Loper is survived by her children Sandra McNamara and husband Douglas, Kelsie Loper Jr. and wife Georgia, Gayle Mitchell and husband John Ed; grandchildren, Sue Lynn Weldon and husband Scott, Mary Katherine Darnall and husband Tom, Douglas McNamara Jr. and wife Shannon, Anne Rakestraw and husband Richard, Michael McNamara, John Mitchell Jr. and wife Heather, Brian Mitchell and wife Erica, Eric Mitchell; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Bradford- O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, Ms , Monday, September 29, 2008 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veteran Avenue, Biloxi at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Northeast Community Hospice, Hadlow Center, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
