Mr. Onyx Wilson Thigpen "Paw Paw" lost his courageous battle with lung cancer on July 20, 2006 at the young age of 88. Mr. Thigpen was born in Bay Springs, MS on August 17, 1917, however he moved to Biloxi, MS in 1954. Mr. Thigpen retired from the Civil Service in 1980 where he worked as a Transit Alert Technician at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS. He was also a Veteran of WWII. Mr. Thigpen is preceded in death by his parents, Eva Alice Jordan Thigpen and Ester William Thigpen; two brothers, Joseph Thigpen ad J.B. Thigpen; and one beloved son, William Stanley Thigpen who passed away earler this year. Mr. Thigpen is survived by his loving wife Eron of 64 years; and five daughters, Nat Hebert of Woolmarket, MS, Jeanie Doser of Okalahoma City, OK, Cindy Saxton of Gulfport, MS, Dorothy King of Biloxi, MS and Connie Marodis also of Biloxi, MS; as well as twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Our father is dearly missed and loved by all. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shannon and the staff at Quality Hospice of the Gulf Coast, Inc. in Biloxi, MS. Services will be held Monday, July 24, 2006 at 2pm at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 8910 Carl Legett Road, Gulfport, MS.
