Oscar Gottfried "Pete" Peterson

Oscar Gottfried "Pete" Peterson, Jr., age 81, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 in Gulfport. Retired from the U.S. Air Force, he served during World War II and in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was also retired from Civil Service, where he taught electronics at Keesler AFB for twenty-three years. He was a volunteer at Keesler Medical Center for many years. He delighted in gardening, a love he inherited from his mother. He was an accomplished woodcrafter, and his family cherishes the many lovingly handcrafted treasures he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Jane Killpatrick Peterson, his parents, Oscar G. Peterson, Sr., and Ellen Anna Rosberg Peterson, and one step-grandchild, Travis Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Mildred I. Peterson, of Gulfport, MS, his sons Paul Allen Peterson (Anne) of Gulfport, MS, and Eric David Peterson, of Biloxi, MS, and his daughter, Sue Ellen Peterson Broadwell (Jim) of East Lyme, CT, one sister, Arlene F. Syring of Elk River, MN, three stepchildren, Charlice Garner(W.E.), of Gulfport, MS, Debbie Turner (Lee), of Saucier, MS, and Robert Steve Byrd, of Gulfport, MS, six grandchildren, Ethan S. Peterson of Oxford, MS, Rachel C. Peterson, of Gulfport, MS, Peter J. and John D. Broadwell, of East Lyme, CT, and Ryan N. and Dain A. Peterson, of Biloxi, MS, six step-grandchildren, Roy Langston, of Saucier, MS, Angie Barnes, of Lyman, MS, Jason Garner, of Woolmarket, MS, Eric and Gary Lewis, of Gulfport, MS, Stephanie Morris, of Hurley, MS, and ten step-great grandchildren. Mr. Peterson was a constant source of love, inspiration and guidance, and his passing brings a profound sense of loss and grief to all who knew and loved him. He will forever be missed. A private service will be held by the family. The family prefers donations to one's favorite charity. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
