Mrs. Ouida Marie LeBlanc, 101, died Friday, March 26, 2010, in Slidell, LA, where she had been living with her niece, Marion Parker, since Hurricane Katrina. Ouida was a resident of Biloxi since 1924. She was born in Vermillion Parish near New Iberia, LA. Ouida was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Johns Church in Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexandre and Alida LeBlanc; brothers, Idest, Ives and Sidney LeBlanc; sisters, Irma Parker, Azilda Hayes, Dilta St. Louis, and Elodie Malik. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Ouida lived an active independent life most of her 101 years. She devoted most of her adult life to being a caregiver for her parents and family members besides working in various seafood factories, as custodian for Gorenflo School, and launderess for Mary Mahoney's Old French House. She was loved and appreciated by all her family and friends who recognized her as a truly loving and giving person.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
