Patricia “Butzy” Scheffler Drown passed away in Gulfport, MS May 1, 2013. She was born November 19, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is survived by her two sons, Scott Drown, Steve Drown (Beth), her sister, Lois Comeaux, her sister-in-law, Gwyn Scheffler, two granddaughters, Anne Elizabeth Drown, and Ashley Schloegel, (Michael), and three great grandchildren Jack, Sophie, and Lily Schloegel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lothrop “Duke” Drown, her son, Kevin Drown, her parents, Harold and Catherine Shepherd Scheffler, and her brother, Harold Scheffler Jr.
Butzy was a resident of New Orleans for 32 years before moving to Gulfport in 1960. She attended school in New Orleans, and graduated from Dominican High in 1945. After moving to Gulfport, she was an active member of St. James Church. She was a devout Catholic her entire life, and always shared her faith with others. She was an avid reader, and always enjoyed being surrounded by her friends and family. She lived by her motto, ‘Live, Love, Laugh,’ and carried this with her all of her life. Butzy was always the life of the party, and a joyous and loving person. She was a mother to more than just her three boys. She was a caretaker of many, and always supported anyone that walked through her front door. She was an incredible cook, and hostess. She will be missed by not only her family, but also the many people that came in contact with her throughout the years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 10:30 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi.
