Patricia Ann Joachim of Biloxi, MS, died at peace, in the comfort of family and friends and in the grace and favor of Our Lord on Friday, April 29, 2011. She was 63 years old and had been hospitalized briefly upon losing her courageous eight year battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia S. Joachim.
The eldest child of Harry J. and Patricia Streiff Joachim, Patricia was born April 25, 1948 in Biloxi. She graduated from Sacred Heart Girl's Academy, where she was recognized for perfect attendance for grades seven through twelve, an achievement which laid a foundation for her work ethic throughout her career.
Patricia advanced her education with the completion of course work at Delta State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. She earned her bachelor's degree at Minot State University in North Dakota.
During her years on the
Coast, she was a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club. A long time member of the Order of Billikins, Patricia loved the Mardi Gras season. She was also a member of the Order of Hera. In 1970, she was presented by the Gulf Coast Debutante Society.
Patricia retired from state government in 2002 having worked for the Mississippi Library Commission and the Mississippi Insurance Commission. Since returning to Biloxi, Patricia worked at the J.C. Penney Company at Edgewater Mall and was often recognized for her sales and credit production. She was an inspiration to her co-workers and her customers for her dedication to her job.
Patricia enjoyed traveling and her trips took her from the east to the west coast as well as trips to Canada. In her later years, she enjoyed dinner, music, and concerts in the company of her friends and family.
Patricia is survived by her father, Harry J. Joachim. She is also survived by her two sisters, Cynthia S. Joachim and Cheryl T. Joachim, both of Biloxi, and two brothers, Harry B. Joachim of Daphne, AL, and Robert S. Joachim and his wife, Brynn, of Biloxi. Other survivors include her nephews, H. Joel Joachim and Kellen C. Joachim, both of Baton Rouge, LA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 12 noon at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biloxi where family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the celebration of the Mass. Interment will follow in Southern Memeorial Park. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
