Patricia Moore Carter

Mrs. Patricia Moore Carter, of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, in Ocean Springs after a courageous battle with cancer. She died in her home surrounded by her loving husband, six children and many grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was born in New Orleans, LA., on April 29, 1930, to the late Gar and Mary S. Moore. A true southern lady, Pat lived her life to the fullest while living in New Orleans, Memphis, and Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where she resided for the past 46 years. She met Robert "Bob" Carter in New Orleans while he was attending Tulane Medical School and they quickly became inseparable. They married in New Orleans in 1953 and soon settled in Ocean Springs. While she enjoyed her bridge clubs, tennis, travel, and supper clubs, nothing was more important to "Mimi" than family. Mimi's smile and laughter were contagious and her love of life served as an inspiration to her many friends and family. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bob Carter; her six adored children, Bobby Carter and wife, DeVeaux, Gar Carter, Patti Carter Humphrey and her husband Robert, James Carter and wife, Patti, Steven Carter and wife, Mitzie, and Tommy Carter and wife, Kelly. She was the adored grandmother to 21 grandchildren, Robbie, Whitney, Tyler, Kevin, Ashley and Amelie, all of Ocean Springs, MS., Courtney, Gardere and Olivia of Baton Rouge, LA., Lindsay and Carter of Southlake, Texas, Jessica, Amanda, Danielle, and Camryn, Shane, Stacie and Stephanie, and Shelby, Savanah, and Seth, all of Ocean Springs. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, from 11 AM - 1 PM, with a 1 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Home of Grace, 14200 Jericho Rd., Vancleave, MS. 39565, or to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS., 39507.
