Patrick James Edwards

Patrick James Edwards passed away in his home at the age of 77 on Saturday, April 5th, 2025. Pat was born in Manhattan, New York and spent his early years in East Meadow, Long Island. He lived in Centereach, Long Island, graduating from Newfield High School at the age of seventeen. Pat was a rare individual; he was intelligent, gifted mechanically, athletic, exceptionally handsome, as well as kind and loving. Pat was a wonderful son, brother, husband, and father.

Pat excelled academically, consistently showing a high aptitude for the arts and sciences. In 1968, Pat was drafted into the United States Army and served three years, playing bugle at interment ceremonies for soldiers killed in Vietman. He was honorably discharged. After his time in the Army, Pat moved to Mississippi where he was able to spend his time doing what he loved most - being in nature. Growing up, he spent most summers with family in Missouri, hunting deer, fishing and frogging. In Mississippi, he took advantage of the bayous and estuaries, earning a living for a time as a crabber. Eventually, he earned his Master Marine Technician certificate and was an expert in the service and repair of outboard motor systems. Pat was known throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast for his skill, truthfulness and integrity. In 1987, he married Nancy Pujol Edwards, his best friend and partner in life. Their favorite place was visiting the Great Smokey Mountains, watching wildlife and taking nature photography.

Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy P. Edwards, his parents, James W. Edwards and Evelyn S. Edwards, and his sister Adrienne L. Erwood (Robert). He is survived by his children Connie T. Williams (Luis) and Ronnie A. Toncrey, Jr. (Angela), granddaughters Emily Williams and Paige Toncrey, sisters Alison E. Grohman (Howard) and Michelle Edwards, brother James V. Edwards (Virginia Mae), nephews Chad Estro, Eric J. Grohman and Mark E. Grohman, and niece Alison E. Sinacore.

In honor of his military service, a ceremony will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, April 25th at 10am.
