Paul Byron Wenger, Jr., age 81, of Searcy, Ark., died March 13, 2011. Mr. Wenger was born June 2, 1929 in Gulfport to the late Paul and Bessie Mae King Wenger, Sr.
Mr. Wenger served in the U.S. Navy and was a 35 year retiree from the Naval Reserve. He was also a Machinist, Patrolman for Harrison County and worked for the Harrison County School System.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Wenger and Catherine Thomas and a brother, Charles Wenger.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years Doris Martin Wenger of Searcy, Ark.; a daughter, Rev. Rebecca Shields of Laurie, Missouri; a son, Joseph Paul Wenger of Topeka, Kansas; three step-sons, Cliff Green of Harrison, Ark, Larry Green of Conway, Ark., and Marty Green of Little Rock, Ark; two sisters, Martha Husley of Woolmarket and Janice Broadus of Gulfport; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Nugent United Methodist Church where friends may visit beginning at 12 noon until the service. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery in Woolmarket with military honors by the U.S. Navy.
