Peggy Beth Koone Boyer

Peggy B. Boyer, age 68, of Vancleave, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Ocean Springs Hospital, after a short illness.

Born Peggy Beth Koone in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she was the fifth child and only daughter of Ray and Berchie Koone. Her father was an artisan, an accomplished furniture maker and her mother was a homemaker. Peggy was a 1973 graduate from Putnam City West High School in Oklahoma City.

Peggy and her family moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the summer of 1991. She worked as a legal secretary in several law firms in Biloxi for a number of years. An excellent bookkeeper and an astute businesswoman, Peggy enjoyed working for many years as a self-employed title abstractor. The depth of title and abstracting knowledge lost upon her death will be keenly felt by the Coast legal and abstracting communities. She loved to laugh, appreciated a good joke, and will be missed by all who knew her.

She most enjoyed having her family gathered around her. Her interests included gardening, sewing, reading, and she was an avid animal lover. She was surrounded by a motley collection of critters for most of her life, including dogs, cats, horses, goats, and chickens.

Peggy was precedent in death by her parents and three brothers, Richard “Dick” Koone, Timothy Koone, and David L. Koone.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Terry D. Boyer; son, Josh L. Boyer (Jill) of D’Iberville, MS; daughter, Katy (Chris Langston) of Pascagoula, and beloved granddaughters Emily L. Boyer, Callee Langston and Natalee Langston, together with three brothers, Steven Koone (Peggy), Tom Koone (Janelle) and Judson Koone, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 4901 Jim Ramsay Rd. in Vancleave, on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2pm. All are welcome to join the family for visitation from 1pm-2pm.
