Peggy Kalberg Gunter Alsup

Peggy Kalberg Gunter Alsup, age 85, of Gulfport and formerly Long Beach, MS; Waco and Dallas, TX and Saigon, Vietnam passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011. She was born April 12, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Alsup was preceded in death by her mother Martha Lang Koenenn and father Frank Kalberg, beloved husband Harold W. Alsup and twin brother Frank Kalberg and sister Elizabeth Bond. She is survived by two daughters Peggy Gunter Stone (Jimmy) of Mobile, AL; Diane Gunter Thornton ( Bill Sr.) Gulfport, MS; sister, Lorraine Baridon Reece Thomasville, GA; sister-in-law Jackie Kalberg Gulfport, MS; seven grandchildren; fifteen great children and four nephews and one niece. Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gulfport. She was also a former employee of the Hancock Bank at the Northeast Branch on Pass Road. She worked for Gustauf Hirsh in Vietnam during the war. Peggy traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and as well as the U.S. prior to retiring in Long Beach, MS. Peggy was a resident of Lakeview Nursing Center the last couple of years and the family would like to thank them for their loving care and kindness throughout her stay. Visitation will be held Wednesday,November 23, 2011 at Bradford O'Keefe,15th Street,Gulfport from 11:30 until 12:30 p.m. with the service at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi.
