Mr. Preston Floyd Fayard, age 95, of the Success Community, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Preston was born in the Success Community on August 18, 1914, and was a member of the Morris Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 69 years, Ellen M. Husley Fayard, his parents, Henry "Tony" and Mary "Molly" Williams Fayard, six brothers, Henry, Walter, Van, Elijah, Eugene and Earnest, three sisters, Lillie, May and Bertha, and two grandsons, Ronald and Milton Cates. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen Yvonne (Howard) Delancey of the Success Community and Carolyn Annette (Franklin "Dee") Cates of the Cedar Lake Community, three grandsons, Preston "Peanut" (Mary) Delancey, Bryan Delancey, all of the Success Community and Donald Cates of the Cedar Lake Community, four great-grandchildren, Matthew Delancey, Michelle (James) Griffith, Bryan (Cassie) Delancey, Jr., and Natalie Delancey, four great-great-grandchildren, Autumn, Trinity and Kadance Delancey and A.J. Griffith, all of the Success Community, and many other family members and friends as well as his church family. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 26, 2009, from 6 PM until 10 PM, at the Morris Hill Baptist Church in the Success Community. On Sunday, December 27, 2009, there will be a 1:30 PM service in the church, where friends may call from 12 Noon until 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Blackwell Cemetery next to the church. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
