Ray E. Smith

Ray E. Smith, age 80, of Gulfport, died Monday, November 15, 2010 in Gulfport. He was born in Picayune and had been a resident of the Coast all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Biloxi V.A. in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Gulfport and a member of American Legion Joe Graham Post 119 and the DAV. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Smith of Gulfport; four daughters, Julie Bomar (Gary) of Nolensville, TN, Linda Taylor (David) of Ocean Springs, Sarah Diehl (Tim) of Tulsa, OK and Lisa Gorman (Berry) of Gulfport; three sons, Stuart Smith (Martha) of Austin, TX, Carl Smith (Shaarlene) of Stafford, VA, and David Smith (Faith) of D'Iberville; a sister, Ann Sandidge of Long Beach; and twenty grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service is Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Gulfport where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
