Ray Spencer, EQCM USN Retired, age 76 of Gulfport, died Monday, August 2, 2010 in Gulfport. Mr. Spencer was born in Beck, Kentucky and had been a resident of Gulfport for the past thirty years.
He served in the U.S. Navy for thirty-one years, retiring in 1985 as a Master Chief. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars with his last tour of duty ending at the Sea Bee Base in Gulfport. He is loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mattie Spencer of Kentucky.
Mr. Spencer is survived by two daughters, Pamela Hall (Ivan) of Lawton, OK, Michele Spencer of Indianapolis, IN; a son, Alan Spencer (Tina) of Huntington, IN; four sisters, Faye Holbrook (Clayton) of Seattle, WA, Jeanne Willour (Jerry) of Huntington, IN, Deane Gehrlein (Larry) of Gulfport, Anita Bourne of Red Key, IN; a brother, Jesse Spencer of Akron, IN; three grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Spenser Hall, and Parker Hall, all of Lawton, OK.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010, from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport.
The funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
