Mr. Raymond Andrew Heddings, Jr., 76, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Heddings was born in Kansas City, Kansas and had been a longtime resident of Ocean Springs. He was a retired U. S. Air Force TSgt and was also retired from Ingall's Shipbuilding where he was a Logistics Engineer. He served as president of the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary for 5 years and completed extensive Boy Scout volunteer service. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Pascagoula. He was an avid supporter in the fight against world hunger and was involved with the church food pantry for many years. He never met a stranger.
Mr. Heddings was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Heddings and his sister, Dolores Sawyer. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Herman and her husband, Chuck; sons, Ray Heddings and his wife, Faith, and Randy Heddings and his wife, Cheryl; sister, Sylvia Sawyer and her husband, Bill; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran World Hunger through Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 2755 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs where friends may visit from 1 p.m until service time. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors at a later date
