Raymond L. Brunies

Raymond Lawrence Brunies, 99, of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away on April 23, 2024 in Gilbert, Arizona.  A lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Raymond attended Biloxi High School and was active in all sports. He was a World War II veteran and served with the Navy Seabees for three years in the Pacific. Raymond retired after 30 years of service with Keesler Air Force Base in civil engineering. He was a very talented wood craftsman and served residential and commercial projects along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Raymond loved his family, the Coast, and his friends dearly. He will be forever cherished and missed by his family. 

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Edwina Wentzell Brunies; his daughter, Carol Brunies Couste; his parents, Merritt Brunies and Alma Mattina Brunies; and brother Merritt Brunies. He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Brunies Toche of Gilbert, Arizona; three grandchildren: Tiffany (Fred) Toche Travis, Gilbert, Arizona, Justin (Kimberly) Toche, Foley, Alabama, and Lee Couste; four great-grandchildren: Daniel Travis and Elissa Travis, Gilbert, Arizona, Katelyn (Jerry) Toche Bundy and Kameron (Hannah) Toche, Foley, Alabama; and one great-great granddaughter, Annistyn Bundy.

A private family service was held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi, with burial following in Biloxi City Cemetery. 

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of Abbington Senior Living, Gilbert, Arizona, for their loving care and support.
