Mr. Raymond Clinton Schankin, 45 of Gulfport, MS, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 29, 2010, in Gulfport. Mr. Schankin was born in McKees Rocks, PA and spent most of his life on the Gulf Coast. He was a 1982 graduate of D'Iberville High School and USM class of 1987. Raymond was in corporate sales at Gulf Coast Business Supply. He was a fifteen year member of Nugent United Methodist Church, member of D'Iberville Booster Club for football and baseball, and a charter member of RPFL, Fantasy Football League. An avid sportsman, Raymond was very involved with his children's athletics and inspired many other coast youngsters with his love of the game. A wonderful husband, son, father, and brother, Raymond will be sadly missed by his family and many dear friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nancy and Clinton Plummer, his paternal grandparents, Bernice and Raymond Schankin and his father, Roy C. Schankin. Survivors include his loving wife, Patti Pyle Schankin; three children, Drew C. Schankin, Holly N. Schankin, and Tyler R. Schankin; his mother, Dixie Plummer Schankin; two sisters, Julie Schankin Hobbs and Cathie Schankin Miller (Jeff); a brother, Roy C. Schankin, Jr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Patsy and Bob Dingman; mother-in-law, Mary Pyle and the late Jack Pyle; brother-in-law, Billy Dingman (Elizabeth); nieces, Amanda Bryant, Stephanie Mercer and Melissa Longfellow; nephews, Nick Miller and Jack Mann; great niece and nephew, Dylan and Ashlynn Bryant, and Zanith Longfellow; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation is Monday, August 2, 2010, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, in Gulfport. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Woolmarket Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to the Raymond Schankin Memorial Fund for underprivileged children, c/o D'Iberville Elementary School, 4540 Brodie Rd., D'Iberville, MS 39540 or your favorite charity.
