Rebecca Hudson McAdams

Rebecca Hudson McAdams, known as Ms. Beckye to many, passed away peacefully with dignity Friday, August 21, at 69 years old. A loving mother, she is survived by four children and their spouses: Kristina McAdams Boggs and her husband Greg Boggs of Apex, N.C.; Thom Marshal McAdams and his wife Abbey Stegall McAdams of Vancleave, Miss.; Alexander Lowe McAdams and her spouse Brandon S. Russell of Houston, Texas; and Jason McAdams and his wife Marsha McAdams of Gulfport. An adoring grandmother and proud Nana, she is survived by three grandchildren: Noah Cooper Boggs, Hudson Gregory Boggs, and Emily Nicole McAdams. She is also survived by her brother Jake Lowe Hudson of Las Vegas, Nev., and cousins Judy Thomason of Deer Park, Texas, and Billy Charles Loden of Lorena, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cooper McAdams, parents Rubye Lowe Hudson and J.W. Hudson, and aunts and uncles Nancy and Richard Springer and Ruth and Bob Jameson. Beckye was a voracious reader and a student of life, maintaining a thirst for knowledge even throughout her later years. She earned her associate’s degree from MGCCC’s Jefferson Davis campus in 2011, and was a senior, working on her bachelor’s in history at USM Gulf Park, at the time of her passing. In her 42 years on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Beckye excelled as an office manager, comptroller, and automotive accountant. She worked at several Coast businesses, including Jay-Jay’s Chevrolet, Superior Chrysler, Ed Saylor Chrysler Dodge, Champion Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Budget Rent-A-Car, and most recently, Allen Toyota Scion. In honor of the deceased requests, there will be no viewings or services. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to: the American Heart and Stroke associations, the American Cancer Society, the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation, or the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
