Ret. Sr. Chief, Donald Waite Caillavet, Sr.

Ret. Sr. Chief, Donald Waite Caillavet, Sr., 74 of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Tuesday, July 08, 2008. Donald was born June 25, 1934 in Buffalo, New York to the late, Frances A. and Evelyn Caillavet and was of the Catholic faith. Donald proudly served his country for twenty one years in the United States Navy, retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after twenty years and worked for CDI for two years before retiring completely. He was the Caillavet families anchor, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, woodworking and cooking for family and friends at holidays, especially at Christmas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Caillavet, Jr. and a brother, Robert Caillavet. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of fifty five years, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Caillavet; his sons, Donald, Jr. (Rocky) and wife Sandra, David, Sr. and wife Marie all of Ocean Springs, MS; daughter, Donna Vaughn and husband Kenny of Vancleave; two brothers, F.A. Caillavet, III (Mildred and Arthur Caillavet; one sister, Shirley (Walt) Dye; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Riley Road in Ocean Springs, where friends may visit one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
