Rev. Golda Voorhees Pryor, a good and faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, entered His Heavenly Kingdom on April 29, 2022. A resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Golda was born on May 12, 1938 in Butler, Missouri. Growing up in Tulare, California, she graduated from Tulare Union High School, as class valedictorian, in 1956, and then attended College of the Sequoias. In 1958, Golda married former Visalia, California Mayor, Bonnel Pryor. While mothering three children, she also volunteered her time as the Visalia area Teaching Leader for Bible Study Fellowship International. For 10 years, over 350 women came from many towns- from Reedley to Delano- to hear Golda’s one-hour weekly lecture, and participate in a structured non-denominational Bible study. After retiring from teaching, she returned to COS to study building trades and architectural drawing and rendering, thus fulfilling her dream to become an ASID accredited designer of homes and interiors. To facilitate her design business, she opened an upscale multi-line boutique, Pryor & Pryor Ltd., on Main Street in downtown Visalia. Here shoppers could find many treasures: Gifts, art, decorative accessories and fine furniture resources. After several years, Golda closed her retail store and returned to teaching and lecturing. In 2017, Golda was formally ordained for Christian Ministry under the sponsorship of Bishop Adell Whitenberg and Dr. EnoAbasi Whitenberg of the New Covenant Christian Ministries Global. For the past several years she has been writing a book on the Christ-ordained ministry of woman; it is to be published posthumously.
Golda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bonnel Pryor; children, Rebecca, Gregory and Steven, seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Marie Stevens of Tulare, and Betty McMullen of Visalia; and Maya her beloved Shiloh Shepherd Dog.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that Memorial Gifts be sent to Christians for Biblical Equality, 122 W. Franklin Ave. Suite 218, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404.
