Richard H. Boehmer, 83, of Ocean Springs, MS died on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Mr. Boehmer was a native of New Orleans and attended Texas A & M University before he was inducted into the US Army. He served during World War II in the South Pacific on Leyte and Luzon in the Phillippines and with the first occupation forces in Japan. On his return to the United States, he entered his father's business, C. H. Boehmer Sales Agency and has continued to work there since 1946. Mr. Boehmer was active in civic affairs in New Orleans, was a member of Pendennis Club, Roundtable Club and several carnival organizations. He was a member of the Southern Yacht Club and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He moved to Ocean Springs in 1974 and continued to work with the agency and was also a partner with his brother at Gulfport Paper Co. and served there as President for several years. Mr. Boehmer was a charter member of the Ocean Springs Yacht Club and served on its board and was also a member and vestryman at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Mr. Boehmer was the beloved husband of Mary Swords Boehmer. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Henry and Royse Davis Boehmer; one son, Richard Henry Boehmer, Jr.
He was the father of Charlotte Boehmer Fraisse, Ellen Boehmer Bergin, Thomas Davis Boehmer all of the Gulf Coast and John Carl Boehmer of Salem, MA; brother, William C. Boehmer of New Orleans; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons.
Private Services will be held at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 am
