Richard H. Janeway

Richard H. Janeway, age 77, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 in Gulfport.

Richard was born in Kingston, NY, on September 25, 1946, to Walser and Ann Janeway. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1965. He continued his education at the College of Virgin Island (1967), Olivet College (1969), Cleveland Institute of Electronics (1975), National Tech School (1976), and the University of Maryland where he received his Master’s in Education (1988). Richard enlisted in the Air Force and was assigned to the 53^rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. He served twenty years as a navigator and hurricane hunter. He was also on the C130 Hercules rescue mission transporting cargo and completed a tour in the Vietnam War.  After his military career, Richard worked at the Keesler Credit Union as a volt attendant. In his free time, he was a power squadron boating instructor in Gulfport and Ocean Springs. He enjoyed ceramic pottery, sailing, and scuba diving. He built his 45 ft. sail boat from scratch.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Walser and Ann Janeway, and brother, Fred Janeway.

He is survived by his wife, Norly Janeway; children, Darwin, Aris, and Allan Pabalan; grandchildren, Adrienna, Christopher, and Chase Pabalan; and siblings, Whitney Janeway and John Janeway.

A memorial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Pass Road Chapel. Friends may visit one hour before. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
