Richard J. Moody, 61, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 15, 2009.
Mr. Moody was born to the late Alvin & Kittie Moody on March 23, 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. He worked on tug boats for many years on the Mississippi River where he most notably served on the Seminole Chief. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found hunting in the woods or fishing the Pearl River. He also enjoyed traveling and playing cards with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin & Kittie Moody; two brothers, Alvin, Jr. & Kenneth Moody; and three sisters, Joy Cheatham, Patricia Blanchard, and Elizabeth Moody.
He is survived by his companion of eight years, Joan Taylor of Philadelphia; his son, Jason J. Moody of Biloxi; sister, Gladys Lee Price of Philadelphia; aunt, Jane Rayburn of Memphis, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue, Biloxi is in charge of arrangements (228) 374-5650.
