Richard Newman French

Richard Newman French, 88, of Gulfport died Friday, February 27, 2009 in Gulfport. Mr. French was born in Martinsburg, MO and had been a resident of Gulfport for over 40 years. He retired as a TSgt from the U.S. Air Force after 22½ years of service. Mr. French was an Episcopalian. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Clark French and Marion Newman Hurst. Mr. French is survived by his sister Anne (A.J.) Pierce of Gulfport; niece Sugar Pierce Surginer of Gulfport; nephew Lane Pierce of Mobile; great niece Ashley Pierce of Mobile; great nephew Mitchell Surginer of Gulfport; great-great nephew Landon Surginer of Gulfport; and 2 uncles Roy Newman of Gulfport and Stephen E. Newman of Orlando, FL. Services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on 15th Street in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
