Ricky Malachi Stewart, 25, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Vancleave Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Vancleave, MS.
Ricky was born on February 16, 1988 in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Hollis and Brenda Stewart. The family moved to Sandpoint in 2006, after Hurricane Katrina, and during Ricky’s junior year of high school. During high school he enjoyed playing football and baseball. Ricky was on the 2006 Sandpoint High School State Champion Baseball team. After graduating in 2007, he attended Mayville State University in North Dakota where he also played football. After college Ricky worked as a lineman testing power lines in the Western United States.
Ricky was a southern boy through and through. He loved sports, the Florida Gators, animals, and bass fishing in the Mississippi swamps. He was a die-hard New York Yankees fan. His favorite athletes were Tim Tebow, Derek Jeter, and Brett Favre.
He was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Stewart in 1997 and his grandfather Herman Dwight Stewart.
Ricky is survived by his parents Hollis and Kathy Stewart of Sandpoint, ID; sister and brother-in-law Sunday and Christopher Miller of Huntsville, TX; niece Delilah Miller; and Grandmother Virginia Rathel of Mobile, AL.
