Rita Diaz Blessey

Rita Diaz Blessey, beloved mother and grandmother, was called to Heaven June 19, 2013. A native of Biloxi, MS., she moved to Hammond in 2004. Rita was a devout Catholic, devoted to Saint Joseph and The Blessed Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Earl B. Blessey, Sr. Rita is survived by her children, Earl “Bun” Blessey, Jr. (Sue) of Ocean Springs, MS., Martha Gerety (Richard) of Upland, CA. and Chip Blessey (Elsa) of Hammond, LA.; her grandchildren, Robson Storey (Melanie), David Storey (Georgia), Kathleen Blessey (Robin), Jennifer Blessey, Rita Parish (David), James Gerety (Cassie), Sara Gerety Pauley, Elsa Rodriguez, Claudia Nieto (Vincente), and Ileana Jara (Eduardo); and numerous great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS on Monday, June 24, 2013, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the mass at 11:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Biloxi City Cemetery.
