Robert Arthur Hessell, 82, of Gulfport died Saturday, February 19, 2005 in Gulfport. Mr. Hessell was born in Chicago, IL and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1965.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U. S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War and was a retired Logistics Engineer at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
He was a member of the Lutheran faith, a member of Joe Graham Post # 119 of the American Legion for 39 years, and also was a Mason and member of the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hessell of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Virginia Hessell of Gulfport; a daughter, Barbara Hessell Falconer and her husband Jack of LaHabra Hts, CA, two sons, Robert Ellis Hessell and his wife, Ann of Del Mar,CA, William Ernest "Bill" Hessell and his wife, Ardeth of Gulfport; a daughter-in-law, Donna Hessell of Reynoldsburg, OH; 6 grandchildren, Michelle Solter, Julie Falconer, William Hessell, Matthew Hessell, Daniel Hessell, and Barbara Hessell; and 2 great-grandchildren, Seth and Heather Solter.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 23, 2005 from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. going to Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service.
