Robert “Bob” Nisbet Hunter, age 85, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Jackson, MS. He was born in Tyrone, NC, grew up in Blue Mountain, MS and spent the past 47 years on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He served his country in the US Army and US Air Force from 1945 to 1967. After 22 years of active duty he retired as Sr. Master Sergeant (SMSGT). He then pursued a career in real estate until he retired at the age of 62.
Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He was devoted to his wife Betty as well as to his children and grandchildren. Bob loved the Lord and was dedicated to his church, Westminster Presbyterian Church with a perfect attendance for the last twenty years. He lived the Bible parable of ‘Love Thy Neighbor” and left a heritage of faith to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Hunter; a daughter, Martha St. Amant; a grandson, Noah Lee St. Amant; a sister, Rachel Stewart; a brother, William Hunter, a nephew Tommy Stewart; and his parents, Ralph Hunter and Martha Moore Hunter.
Bob is survived by three daughters, Mary (Tommy) Stallings of Madison, Margaret (Jerry) Miller of Brandon, Marilynn Hunter of Ridgeland; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Gulfport at 12:00 p.m. where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
