Mr. Robert E. "Chubby" Beaugez, Sr., age 78, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Sunday, October 1, 2006, in Ocean Springs. Chubby was born on November 7, 1927, at Shearwater Pottery in Ocean Springs. He lived in Ocean Springs all of his life. He graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1947 where he played football for the Greyhounds. He spent most of his life as a carpenter in the construction field and as a local business owner. Chubby served the City of Ocean Springs as Building Official from 1981 until his retirement in 1996. He established the Lynchburg Landing Lounge in 1990 and 'worked" at the Lynchburg everyday until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian (Pearson) and Herbert Beaugez, Sr., and two brothers, Donald and Eugene Beaugez. Survivors include his former wife, Ernestine (Zettel) Beaugez, five children: sons, Robert "Bobby" Beaugez and his wife, Pam, Dale Beaugez, and Philip Beaugez and his wife Lisa, daughters, Kathleen Beaugez and her husband, David Wilson, and Tina Beaugez, nine grandchildren, Scott, Tracy, Chandra (Nicholson), Kevin, Amber (Actis), Seth, Ethan, Samuel, and Aaron, and four great-grandchildren, Haylee, Meagan, Christian, and Dylan, two brothers, Charles and Herbert "Herby", Jr. Beaugez, and one sister, Elaine (Beaugez) Drengson, and many nieces and nephews and cousins. His extended family includes all of the people at the Lynchburg Landing. All of Chubby's survivors live in the Ocean Springs area, except his sister Elaine who lives in Wisconsin. They will all miss him dearly. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, from 6-9 PM, with a 7 PM Rosary, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, October 4, 2006, there will be a 2 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where friends may call from 1-2 PM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
