Robert Edward Meyer

Robert E. Meyer, age 88, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Mr. Meyer had been a resident of Ocean Springs for the past thirty two years. He was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II. Following his military service, he resided in Onarga, IL; where he managed his family farms and Onarga Canning Company. He was the hospital administrator at Iroquois Hospital in Watseka, IL prior to retiring to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and became Rear Commodore East. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Meyer; two daughters, Patricia Petillo and Lin Summerlin; three sons, Karl Meyer, Jeff Meyer and Victor Meyer along with ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
