Robert Edwin Mentzer, Sr.

Robert Edwin Mentzer, Sr., age 86, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Mr. Mentzer had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for five years and a prior resident of Rockville, MD for forty three years. He was a member of Elks Lodge #15 Washington DC/Rockville, MD, where he served as Chaplain for two years as well as Exalted Ruler. He was a 32° Master Mason in Chillum Heights, MD. Robert also served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Martha Siegler-Mentzer and son, PFC Robert Mentzer, Jr., USMC. Survivors include his daughters, Carol Mentzer and Faye Monti, both of Ocean Springs and Nephew, Alex Smith of Boca Raton, FL. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m.. on May, 9, 2009 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, where friends may visit one hour prior to service.
