Robert William Fell, Jr., age 76, of Biloxi, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
Mr. Fell was born on August 19, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan to Robert W. Fell, Sr. and Elizabeth Hunt Fell. His mother died when he was a toddler, and he was raised by his father and his father’s loving wife, Catherine Fell. Mr. Fell was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving our Country in the Air Force, until his retirement from Service in 1988. As part of his service, he earned the Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Humanitarian Service Medal, Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Over Seas Short Tour Ribbon, Air and Space Training Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal and Outstanding Unit Award with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters.
He grew up in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Dallas and Jacksonville. As an adult, he settled on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Troy University and his Master’s degree from Auburn University.
Mr. Fell was an active member of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Biloxi, then Fatima Catholic Church of Biloxi, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1244. He was a dedicated 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and was honored as Knight of the Year.
He enjoyed attending Daily Mass followed by fellowship with his “Breakfast Crew” at Port City Cafe, and spending time at the Knights of Columbus Hall playing Bourrée. He also enjoyed cheering on the Steelers and the Saints, having spent many Sunday afternoons in the Superdome with his family and friends.
Mr. Fell was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Wanda “Jean” Fell; sister, Holly Fell Sateia; brother-in-law, Jesse Barber Schooley; mother, Elizabeth Hunt Fell; and his parents, Robert and Catherine Dee Fell.
He is survived by his sons, Robert William Fell, III (Courtney) and Sean Christopher Fell (Kyla); five grandchildren, Alma, Holden, Lauren, Lindsey and Ansley; and two sisters, Carole Fell (Don Laing) and Kathleen Fell Schooley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 1244, P.O. Box 34, Biloxi, MS 39533.
A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour before. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
