Robert Gordon Cossey

Mr. Robert Gordon Cossey, 90, of Vancleave, MS died Friday, October 2, 2009, in Vancleave. Mr. Cossey was a native of Staten Island, NY and has been a resident of Vancleave for the past 65 years. He was a musician and a band leader in the Big Band Era. He attended Tulane University and enjoyed a 50 year career as an architect. He was a member of Vancleave United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors of the Home of Grace. Mr. Cossey was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Florence Murphy Cossey; and parents, Edward and Georgiana Cossey. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Anne M. (Tommy) Williams, Walter (Susan) Murphy, Henry Murphy, George (Mary) Murphy, Clinton (Sherry) Murphy, Robert (Sandy) Murphy, John (Marilyn) Murphy, Criss M. Carter, Joy M. (Ben) Kitchens, Aileen M. Russell, and James (Paula) Lockard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vancleave United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 5141, Vancleave, MS 39565, or to Home of Grace, P. O. Box 5009, Vancleave, MS 39565. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Vancleave United Methodist Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Vancleave #1 Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
