Roberta H. Rogers, 86, of Gulfport, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005 in Gulfport. Roberta was a native of Newton County, MS. and a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, where she was active in Young at Heart Senior's Group. Roberta was an accomplished seamstress who designed and sewed clothes for her husband and daughters throughout her life. She also enjoyed crochet and quilting and rarely sat for long without some type of needlework in her busy hands. She tended her garden and flowerbeds with care and delighted in sharing it with the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds that it attracted. Her circle of lifelong friends was strong and through the years they had enormous fun dancing, playing cards, camping, and just being together. Roberta loved her family and friends with all her heart and she will be greatly missed by each of them.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband George A. Rogers.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith Malley of Gulfport, Teresa Lamb and her husband Bob of Lucedale, and Sue Rogers and partner Gary Childs of Birmingham, AL, two sisters Thelma Phillips and Opal Welch both of Gulfport, brother Edsel Heflin of Jackson, two grandchildren Jason Malley and his wife Amanda, Christopher Malley, two great-grandchildren Chase Malley and Cameron Malley, numerous nieces and nephews, and her precious terrier "Puppy".
The service will be 3:00PM, Friday, June 10, 2005 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 12 until 3:00PM. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
