Robert Joseph Askin

Mr. Robert Joseph Askin, 79, surrounded by his family, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009, at his home in Biloxi. Mr. Askin, a lifelong resident of Biloxi, attended Notre Dame School, and in his younger days enjoyed boxing. He became a Biloxi businessman in the 50's. He was a licensed plumbing and general contractor. He owned the first septic tank company in Biloxi. He also had a grocery store and a taxi cab business as well. In the 60's he was in the buy and sell business and wheel camper business. After Hurricane Camile, he started the Biloxi Sanitary Company and retired from it in the 90's. In the later 70's you could always find him sitting on his boat, "The Soda Pop II", in the afternoons at the Broadwater Marina. He would be enjoying the scenery of the Biloxi he loved and visiting with friends. He got the most pleasure out of cooking for his family and friends. He would light up a room with his little jokes and big smile. He never met a stanger. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his family and friends. Mr. Askin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Askin; sons, Donald and Jimmy Askin; daughter, Paula Harvey; grandson, Robert Askin, III; brothers, John and Louis Askin; and sister, Gloria Perniciaro. Survivors include his son, Bobby (Mary Gay) Askin of Biloxi; daughters, Toni Parker of Hattiesburg, Jeanie (Larry) Louivere of Buras, LA, and Tracie Quave of Biloxi; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a. m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
