Robert Lane Watters, age 83, of Gulfport, died Friday, April 9, 2010 in Gulfport. He was born in Wilmington, NC and had been a resident of Gulfport for over 35 years. He served in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army as a pilot. He also served as Command Pilot in the Civil Air Patrol for several decades. He pioneered and served as a commercial fish spotting pilot for the East Coast and the entire Gulf Coast all of his life. He was a member of Pass Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Hazel Ann Watters of Gulfport; two sons, Robert Keith Watters and David Marshall Watters both of Saucier; three grandchildren, Andrea Danielle Watters of Gulfport, Robert Lane Watters, II, and David Brent Watters, both of Saucier; and a great-grandson, Braxton Lane Watters of Saucier.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
