Robert Duayne Nielsen

Robert “Bob” Duayne Nielsen, age 87, died on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was born on January 30, 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He received battle ribbons and commendations for both the Korea and Vietnam Wars. He retired as Master Chief Petty Officer and was also an Engineer at Ingalls Shipbuilding for 10 years. Bob was a Mason since 1958 and was a Past Master of the Magnolia Lodge. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. Robert was an Invested Knight Commander Court of Honor and coroneted a 33rd Degree in 1993. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Fred S. Nielsen and Mary Louise Mullins Nielsen; and siblings, Fred S. Nielsen, Katie Nielsen Manuel and Curtis G. Nielsen. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 Years, Bessie Nielsen; daughters, Gwen Lee and Donna Allen; grandchildren, Meagan Kelley, Matthew Lee and Christine Vo (Jimy Vo); great granddaughters, Sophie Roussel and Audrey and Vivian Vo; sister, Lois Bird. Service will be held with Masonic Rites at 11am on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi. Friends may visit one-hour prior. Interment with military honors will follow at 12:30pm at Biloxi National Cemetery. He loved God, Country and Family.
