Roberto P. Barcala MD of Biloxi, MS passed away on February 11, 2025 after a hard fought battle with IPF.
Dr. Barcala was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The first person in his family to go to college, he graduated from medical school at the age of 22 and went on to have an illustrious career as a Cardiologist both in Argentina and the United States. He was also an avid chess player, winning numerous championships in both countries and enjoyed computer programming and owning thoroughbred race horses.
Predeceased by his parents and youngest brother, Tito; as well as his nephew, Mariano Barcala.
He is survived by his first and only love, Andrea Baby Barcala, his wife of 66 years; as well as his two sons, Roberto and Edward Barcala and their spouses, Vicky Barcala and Mary Barcala; his daughter Dianna Ragula and her spouse Andrew; his grandchildren Ian, Anna, Boris and Lucas; his brother, Carlos; and sister, Maria Aurora; as well as numerous other nephews, nieces, friends and family.
Services will be private.
