Mr. Rodney E. Billingsley, 55, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital after a short yet fierce battle with cancer. Mr. Billingsley was a native of Forrest City, AR and had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast for over 30 years. In his 30 plus years at WLOX he received multiple awards for sports features and news photography including but not limited to the Peabody Award, RTNDA for continuing coverage, and the Southeast Regional Emmy for Humanitarianism.
Mr. Billingsley was preceded in death by his grandparents, Taylor and Geraldine Billingsley, and Jerry and Winnie Jayroe; and great niece Jacee Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Billingsley; daughters, Kristina Marberry and Carolyn Marberry; son Joshua Marberry; parents, Raymond and Dorothy Billingsley of Carthage, MS; brother, Danny (Elaine) Billingsley of Slayden, MS; four grandchildren; nieces, Jada Hamm, Jaklyn Thomas and Reba Billingsley;and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation is tonight, Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at the funeral home chapel where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Billingsley will be sent from Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi to Stevens Funeral Home in Forrest City, AR for services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Connect Point Church in Forrest City and burial in Bell Cemetery in Palestine, AR.
