Roger Wesley Hammett, age 55, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in Biloxi.
He was born May 8, 1953 in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident of Gulfport. He previously served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a former automotive electronic technician. He was a member of The Salvation Army.
Mr. Hammett was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wesley Hammett; his father, Tom Hammett; his mother, Minnie Hammett Andrus and step-father, Bill Andrus; and a brother, Donnie Andrus.
He is survived by two daughters, Ashley Marie Hammett and Bianca Nicole Hammett, both of Gulfport; four sisters, Betty (Raymond) Farve of Lawrence, KS, Shirley (Dallas) Robinson of Woolmarket, Mary Ruth (Michael) McCaleb of Gulfport, Linda (Alfred) Bosarge of Woolmarket; four brothers, Bill (Shirley) Hammett of Meridian, Jim (Carol) Hammett of Long Beach, Buddy (Marilyn) Hammett of Biloxi, Ronnie (Janice) Andrus of Gulfport; 35 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. There will also be a visitation Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. going to Biloxi National Cemetery for a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corp.
