Roland Davidson Figueroa, age 91, of Ocean Springs passed away on January 9, 2025.
Roland was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Iris Davidson Figueroa of Ocean Springs, MS and Marco Juan Figueroa of Guatemala City, Guatemala. He attended Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, TN and the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a member of Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. He spent his summers as a child in Ocean Springs with grandparents Iola and Judge OD Davidson. As an adult he settled in Ocean Springs where he met and married Sue Frances Wilkens Gallaher. Sue predeceased him after over 50 years of marriage. They raised two children in Ocean Springs, Susan Figueroa DuBose (Dennis) and Cynthia Figueroa (Jim Kenney). Roland had two brothers, Marco St. John (Lorraine) and David Figueroa (Liz) and four grandchildren, Danielle DuBose Cotter (Matthew), Andrew Michael DuBose, Annabel Calhoun and Lauren Calhoun.
Roland served in the Korean War and was a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He was an historian, a gunsmith, and a businessman. He owned Roland’s gun shop in downtown Ocean Springs and was a well-respected expert in the field.
Roland will be laid to rest Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00pm at a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs, MS. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Donations in memory of Roland may be made to the National Rifle Association or Notre Dame Hospice.
