Mr. Ronald Michael Mapes, 55, of Lilburn, GA, died Thursday, December 24, 2009, in Decatur, GA.
Mr. Mapes was a longtime resident of Biloxi before moving to Lilburn after Hurricane Katrina. He served in the U. S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain, and had traveled many places during his service. He was a proud member of the Biloxi Indian Alumni Band.
Mr. Mapes was preceded in death by his mother, Moira P. Mapes. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Julie Butler Mapes of Lilburn; sons, Christopher Michael Mapes and his wife, Nui, of Stone Mountain, GA, Myriah Michael McClarren and his wife, Amber, of Sylvester, GA, and Julian Michael Mapes of Lilburn, GA; daughter, Rebecca McClarren of Saucier; his father, Ronald F. Mapes; brother, Brian Mapes, both of Biloxi; his sister, Colleen Mapes Page of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Payton McClarren of Sylvester, GA, and Madalynn Gilman of Saucier.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
