Ronald "CooCoo" Broussard, Sr., 69, of Vancleave, MS passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at his residence. CooCoo was born in Biloxi and remained a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He had been a shrimper for 40 years of which 27 years was with Captain Tommy Schultz and was the 2003 Shrimp King. He also worked for Harrison County for 7 years. CooCoo was a lifelong member of the Fleur de Lis Society and a member of Fayard Chapel United Methodist Church in Latimer.
CooCoo is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Evelyn Broussard; brother, Gerald "BooBoo" Broussard and grandson, Michael Lynch.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Broussard; children, Nancy, Sonja, Victoria, Ronald, Jr. (Rebecca), Dudley (Dianna) Broussard, Michael Nutefall (Danielle) and Colleen Ladnier (Jimmie); nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one niece and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fleur de Lis Society on Howard Ave., Biloxi with fellowship to follow until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family desires to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by the Ocean Springs and Singing River Hospital staff.
