Rose Hall Knight

Mrs. Rose Hall Knight, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Knight was born in Vicksburg, MS on June 17, 1918. She lived in northern Mississippi for a number of years, but had resided in Ocean Springs for the past 35 years. She belonged to and supported a number of service organizations such as the Order of the Eastern Star. She also affiliated with and was a former lecturer for Weight Watchers. After moving to the Gulf Coast, she joined TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), and was active in this organization for many years. She was a very talented lady and enjoyed making ceramics, painting, crocheting, doing needlepoint work, and sewing. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she formerly served as a Eucharistic minister. Rose and her husband enjoyed traveling many places over the years. They also loved their years of square dancing with the "Magnolia Swingers". She joined the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary in 1982. She loved working the front desk of the hospital and greeting friends and visitors. In 2003 she was named "Auxilian of the Year". She was so proud of her many hours at the hospital. She was a faithful volunteer for 26 years until her retirement in 2008. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly called "Maw Maw". Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her father, James Louis Hall, her mother, Annie Mae Hall Gill, sister, Kathryn Gill, brother, Chris Gill, daughter, Rose Marie Blue, son, "Butch" Knight and her husband, Marion Clifford Knight. Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Ray, daughter-in-law, Lynda Knight, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of friends. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 6, 2010, from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m., with a 1:00 p.m. memorial service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be sent to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 502 Jackson Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS. 39564.
