Rose Marie Schloegel Parkerson passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 following a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Catholic Church on Thursday, August 2nd at 12 Noon followed by visitation in Presentation Hall at the church.
Rosie was preceded in death by her loving husband, I.C. “Rusty” Parkerson, her parents, Joseph A. Schloegel and Nancy Bertucci Schloegel,
Sisters, Henrietta Kincaid, Marie Broer, Nancy Simmons, Virgie Wallace, and her brother Joe Schloegel.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Parkerson, her brother, George Schloegel, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Rosie graduated from Gulfport High School and participated In the GHS Class of 1947 Reunion Club.
She was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church. She was active in the Mississippi Power Company Retiree’s Club and served as Commissioner of the Mississippi Coast Transit Authority.
Until she became ill, she was active in the Gulfport Senior Citizens program at Senior Citizens Center in West Gulfport.
Rosie was a strong anti-litter activist and a proponent of the rebuilding and replanting of West Side Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the City of Gulfport Memorial Tree program administered by the Gulfport Civic League, P.O.Box 7797, Gulfport, 39506 or one’s favorite charity.
