Roy O. Carroll, Sr., of Hattiesburg and Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Merit Health Wesley.
Mr. Carroll proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He also worked at FedEx as an aircraft mechanic for 22 years until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid golfer and loved woodworking. Friends and family remember him being a very loyal and devoted part of their lives. He had a great love for his hometown, Ocean Springs. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an ardent supporter of the legalization of cannabis.
He was preceded in death by his son, Apichat “Nathan” Armontrigul; his infant son, Christopher Carroll; and his brothers, James Wayne Carroll and John Carroll.
He is survived by his children, Tina Day (Kevin) of Memphis, TN, Amanda Carroll of Horn Lake, MS, Thomas Edward Carroll of N.C., Tracey Carroll Byers of N.C., and Roy O. Carroll, Jr. of N.C.; many grandchildren, including, Jeremiah Carroll and Skyler Munn; great grandchildren, including Samuel Roy Carroll; his sister Marie Brandon (Robert) of Gautier, MS; his brothers, Steve Carroll (Chris) of Humble, TX and Wesley Austin, Jr. (Michelle) of Atlanta, GA; Warren Carroll of California; William Carroll of Montana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to visit one hour prior.
