Rufus David Mallett

Rufus David Mallett, age 59, of Grand Bay, Alabama passed away on May 8, 2023.

Rufus was born on May 11, 1963 to Dave and Coy Ann Mallett in Biloxi, Mississippi. He spent his whole life residing in Vancleave and Grand Bay. He attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He later become employed with Evonik and remained there for thirty years. Rufus stayed a member of his home church Mt. Pleasant in Vancleave, MS his entire life but served and loved Grand Bay FUMC for 14 years. He also served Bayou La Batre FUMC for the last 14 years. He was devoted to his family and friends. His work was a labor of love and he enjoyed his work family. His hobbies included traveling places with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Coy Ann Mallett.

He is survived by his spouse, Janie Mallett; children, Ben, Brigitte, and Brandon Mallett; beloved sister, Myrna (Paul) Lynne Baricev; beloved nephews, Anthony and David Baricev; and many close friends that he loved like family.

The family requests that donations be made to New Prospect Campgrounds in Vancleave, MS. The family would like to send a special thank you to Ochsner’s Medical Hospital, Grand Bay Medical Center, and SAAD’s hospice for their service to him during his illness.

Services will take place on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Vanleave, MS. Friends may visit from 9:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow at Vancleave #1.
