Ruth C. Miller

On Monday, February 20, God saw Mother was tired and weak and picked yet another beautiful flower, Ruth C. Miller, from his garden to come home and rest. Ruth C. Miller was born December 20, 1925 to the late Willie C. Clemons and Emma Killins of Philadelphia, MS in the Hopewell Community of Neshoba County, MS. She confessed Christ at an early age at Hopewell United Methodist Church. Ruth graduated from Okolona Junior College and taught school in Neshoba County for one year. While attending college in Okolona, MS , she met her husband, David Miller, II, who preceded her in death. She was united in holy matrimony to David Miller II, on September 6, 1948. To this union, three children were born, Delane R. Miller, David Miller, III, and Dennis Lee Miller. While David was in the U. S. Army, she and he moved around the country throughout his military career and made many friends. She also loved her family and relatives and never lost contact throughout their military commitment. After retirement in 1963, they settled in Zion, IL. In 1977 she and her husband moved to Hattiesburg, MS, where they lived until they passed away. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, where she was a faithful member, serving on various committees. Ruth was loved by many everywhere she went and will be sadly missed. Ruth was a soft spoken person, very wise and unique in her own way. She touched many hearts and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who called on her. She was a peacemaker to her family and friends and never said a bad thing about anyone. She was truly a child of God. She was a loving mother to her family, a devoted wife to her husband, and a loving and devoted person to all her relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters. She was the baby of the family. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Waukegan, IL. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Delane; two sons, David and Dennis; two grandchildren, Durrow and Jason, three great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, in Gulfport on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. where friends may visit from 1 p.m. until the service. Family and friends are invited. Food will be provided at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg immediately following the service. She will be interred next to her husband Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to the committal.
