Mrs. Ruth B. Cox, born in 1911, in Elizabeth, NJ, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Cox lived in Ocean Springs for fifteen years and the last seven years in Vancleave. She was a member of St. Johns' Episcopal Church in both Elizabeth, NJ and in Ocean Springs, MS., and was the first woman ever elected to the Church Vestry. She did much volunteer work, including the Women’s Auxiliary of St. Elizabeth's Hospital to which she was elected president on four separate terms. She was President of the Board of Trustees of the Janet Memorial Home for Girls, a non-profit organization for homeless girls, for over 10 years. When she moved to Ocean Springs she became a member of the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary Guild, the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra Guild and the Civic Friendship Club.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William T.R. Cox and a son, William IV.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Musa and husband, William, of Ocean Springs, MS., grandson, Andrew Musa and wife, Lori, of Vancleave, grandson, Thomas Taylor and fiancée Anastasia Stewart, both of Slidell, LA and three great-grandchildren, Meagan, Dylan, and Allyson, all of Vancleave.
